Jubilee Exhibition – May 2012

At our Urban Harvest in 2011 artists Hannah Price and Peter Owen brought a partly created piece for us, as a group, to work on as during our reflections in worship. After the gathering Hannah and Peter worked the artwork up – above is the finished work.

The above work will be included in an exhibition at Christ Church, Linnet Lane on the theme Jubilee during the week commencing May 27, 2012 – this is the week before the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations – which is the week before Pentecost.

The exhibition theme has been chosen to offer a Christian creative vision for Jubilee. In Leviticus 25 we read about the 50th year being a Jubilee year – a time when debts would be forgotten, prisoners freed, sins forgiven, land returned to the people and a fresh start begun.

Aas well as exhibiting work we would also plan to host some seminars on across the city on themes of Jubilee, restitution, etc .that can tie into our exhibition and could even be creative workshops on the themes.

The proposal is for the exhibition to be a multi-creative-art event – so not just fine art can be offered. If people have performance, poetry, sculpture, video/film, sound, photography, media, etc that they think might fit into this theme then I think we’d be happy to consider any creative art form (that time and space will allow us).

If you would like your work to be considered for the exhibition then please contact RiverArts
